Guest Author Interview: Ami Blackwelder

Today we have with us paranormal romance author Ami Blackwelder.  Ami Blackwelder is the author of The Other Five Senses, The Day the Flowers Died, and The Hunted of 2060.

EJ:  Where do you get ideas for your writing?

Ami:  My genres consist of historical and paranormal romance.  (By historical I don't mean cliche, heart-throb erotics. I mean ROMANCE, not sex, and set in an intriguing period of time, consisting of actual history).

My ideas begin as a seed that I play with and if that seed is passionate, it will grow and I have to tell its story. Sometimes the seeds come to me in dreams. Sometimes the seeds come to me in my day when I least expect it.

EJ:  Tell about your first book?

Ami:   My first real piece of writing that was subsequently published was a short story entitled: From Joy We Come, Unto Joy We Return. I achieved semi-finals in the Laurel Hemingway Contest of 1997 for that story. It is included in my personal shorts anthology entitled: The Water Jug.

EJ:  What is the hardest part of writing?

Ami:  Finding time to write is challenging for most writers who usually maintain full time jobs. The re-editing can be difficult when a writer does not have an efficient editor. Marketing can be even more difficult. Balancing a writers time between all three is the real challenge.
