Guest Author Interview: Sonya Clark

Please welcome today's guest author Sonya Clark!  Sonya is the author of the recent urban fantasy release Bring On The Night.

EJ:  When did you begin writing?

Sonya:
I’ve been writing as long as I can remember. The oldest stories I have are a couple of one-page stories from the second grade. It wasn’t until about three years ago that I started working seriously on both improving my writing and actually finishing manuscripts. My first finished novel was terrible, but I love it anyway.

EJ:  What brought you to the paranormal genre?

Sonya:
When I was a kid I read a lot of Anne Rice, Ray Bradbury, Stephen King. I loved spooky stories about ghosts and monsters, and I still do. I love that you can use the monsters and magic of paranormal fiction as metaphors for so many things, especially things that I’d probably not write about otherwise.

EJ:  If you could be any paranormal or have any one supernatural talent, what would it be? Why?

Sonya:
When I was little I wanted to fly (with or without a cape). I’m not sure what I would pick now. Magic, probably. Some wizardly skills would be pretty awesome. I’d love to be able to just point my finger, send out some of my will, and light a candle, pour a glass of tea, anything. But I have a bad feeling that if I ever tried to clean the bathroom with magic it would turn into the broomstick scene from Sorcerer’s Apprentice pretty quick. My magical name could be Mickey, then.

EJ:  Tell us why readers will enjoy your new release.

Sonya:
Bring On The Night is about a vampire, Jessie, who is sent to stop a series of murders that might bring too much attention to the hidden supernatural world. She winds up working alongside a reporter and the head of a homeless shelter. What I like about Jessie, what I think readers will like about her too, is that she’s not one to brood about her life as a vampire. She’s long since come to terms with being a monster and has found a way to balance her vampire nature with the humanity that’s never left her. That means she fights to protect the lives of innocents, but has absolutely no qualms about feeding off of murderers and rapists. She doesn’t like killing other vampires, though, but she’ll do it if they cross that moral line that she so strongly believes in.

EJ:  If your book(s) were being made into a movie, who would you cast for the leading roles? Why?

Sonya:
Eliza Dushku looks exactly right for Jessie, and she can certainly carry off a fight scene. Brandon, the reporter, has a sort of goofy sweetness to him, but he’s also open-minded and brave. I think Jared Padalecki would be great for that character. William is an ex-minister who runs a homeless shelter and has a real intensity to him that puts me in mind of Christian Bale. I always envisioned the two bad guys, Draven and Margot, as Sid and Nancy as played by Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie.

Bring On The Night by Sonya Clark.

Only a vampire can own the night.

If there’s one thing Jessie hates, it’s going after her own kind. She may be used to taking a bite out of human killers, but she leaves her fellow immortals alone. It’s only after a series of gruesome murders have her suspecting vampires and werewolves are going after innocents does she set out to put a stop to it.

It’s not long that Jessie finds herself racing against the waxing moon to stop an ambitious gang of monsters with a sinister agenda.

  5. Enjoyed both interview and book. Grew up reading Stephen King & Ray Bradbury, too. Liked Jessie because she wasn't whiny. :-)

  6. Thanks Pamela! I figured we had enough broody, whiny vamps out there so I tried to make Jessie out of stouter stuff. ;-)

  7. I'm someone who has lived a life seemingly in the background, I must say this final indignity I have suffered almost too much to endure. You see, I have been sickly and weak since the day I was born and doomed to go through all my life a weakling. I seemed to have always suffered from one illness or another and could never play with the other children as I so desperately wanted to. Mother always made such a big fuss over me, also, making the situation worse as the other boys teased me mercilessly after they saw it. I was browsing  the internet searching on how i could be transformed into a powerful when i came across the email of a man named Lord Mark. who was a VAMPIRE so I told him that I has always dreamed of becoming a  VAMPIRES, All i did was just to follow the procedure that i was been told, and i bet you that procedure I took change my entire life to something i ever desire, freedom, sickness free, pains free, fame, influence, connections and even more that i can. Thanks to Lord Mark. Do you want a life full of interesting things? Do you want to have power and influence over others? To be charming and desirable? To have wealth, health, and longevity? contact the vampires creed today via email: Vampirelord7878@gmail.com
