Hunting in Bruges (Hunters' Guild #1) by E.J. Stevens.
The only thing worse than being a Hunter in the fae-ridden city of Harborsmouth, is hunting vamps in Bruges.
Being shipped off to Belgium sucks. The medieval city of Bruges is quaint, but the local Hunters' Guild is understaffed, the canals are choked with dead bodies, and there's no shortage of supernatural predators as likely suspects.
On second thought, maybe Bruges isn't so bad after all.
With a desire to prove herself, protect the innocent, and advance within the ranks of the Hunters' Guild, Jenna Lehane hits the cobbled streets of Bruges with blades at the ready. Someone, or something, is murdering tourists and dumping their bodies in the city's scenic canals. With the help of a mysterious stranger, Jenna begins to piece together clues that are dotted throughout the city like blood spatter.
Determined to stop the killings, Jenna delves into a bloody local history that only raises more questions--but some secrets are best left buried. Jenna must put her combat training to the test as she struggles to unearth the truth about an ancient enemy.
Hunting in Bruges is the first novel in the Hunters' Guild urban fantasy series set in the world of Ivy Granger.

DeleteThe best kind!!!
ReplyDeleteYou'll definitely like Jenna. ;)
Deletei do love independent and strong willed heroine of course!^^ and teh fact the book takes place in my country just add to my interest^^ ( but the cover could have been better)
ReplyDeleteHave you been to Bruges? I went to Belgium for my research, though I did add bloodsucking vampires, flesh eating ghouls, and monstrous faeries to the quaint, medieval city of Bruges.
DeleteYES! Their the best of the best c:
Deletei went with school when i was little but i remember it well^^;; , my country has quite a long history so i'm sure you could find some fae and other creatures wandering quietly ( after all we are known for our discretion^^;; so we would not be jumping on them for authographe^^)
DeleteBrussels also has some crepy place.... but the one place that always put me on edge is nearer my house " Mariemont" it was a castle that was destroyed by french revolutionnaire.... you can see some intact place and other only teh basement but despite it being in a magificient park it's always chilly near the ruins
Now I really must return to Belgium. Mariemont sounds like a wonderful setting for a paranormal encounter. :)
DeleteI missed Jenna in the last Ivy adventure. Looking forward to hearing about what has happened in Bruges. Can't wait!

ReplyDeleteIf you like quirky, Jenna's fellow Hunters are perhaps the quirkiest. ;)
DeleteOf course I love quirky kick butt heroines! Who doesn't? That's why we read Urban Fantasy books. If we want normal or weak characters there are other book genres.
