What Is Your Favorite Book Of All Time?

Happy New Year!

I am looking forward to the upcoming new year, and all of the amazing books coming out in 2015, but there is something about the closing of a year that makes me reflect on past reads.  I love hearing about what books other readers loved from 2014, but there's something else I'm also curious about.

What is your favorite book of all time?

Okay, I admit.  That's a difficult question to answer.  Perhaps a better question would be, "What book or series do you reread the most often?"  I know I have old faithfuls that I've read over...and over...and over...  Well, you get the idea.  There are some books that I just can't get enough of.

What is your favorite book of all time?

For me, these books are like old friends.  I never tire of them, no matter how many times we meet within the pages.

Do you have a book or series that you've read more than once?

I started going through my most well-thumbed books and was surprised to realize that the books I still read the most often are from my childhood and early teen years.  I also noticed that although I currently read mostly urban fantasy, the books I've read the most often run the gamut from Shakespeare to Gibson to Poe and Conan Doyle.  I also realized that I have over fifteen copies of Hamlet, most of them falling apart from overuse.

You can never have too many copies of your favorite books, right?

  1. Of course you are correct, you can never have to many copies of your favorite books. I find that the books I have come to read and reread are the ones I was told not to read as a child and early teenager by my parents. These books would have to be the Farseer, The Tawny Man and the Liveship Traders series by Robin Hobb or the His Dark Materials series. I don't know if its because I wasn't supposed to read them, or because they were another world I hadn't discovered but I have loved them ever since.

    Happy New Year!

  3. The Harry Potter series is probably the series I have read the most (more than 7 times). I don't think I will ever get tired of them although I haven't picked one up in quite a few years.

I love the classics too though like Bronte, Gaskwell, and Austen. C.S. Lewis they are all fabulous writers and should be read at least one in a lifetime.

I hope you have a fabulous New Year!!

  4. Hands down it's Pride and Prejudice. I have several copies and they are all battered.
And a series would be The Dragonriders of Pern. I've read them so many times to covers are starting to come off.

  5. After some debating, I'd have to go with Outlander by Diana Gabaldon. I just love that series to pieces!

  6. The Kentucky Derby is one of the biggest events in sports every year, but before this year's race can begin, the horses will need to be given post positions during the official draw.Traditionally held at Pimlico Race Course on the third Saturday in May, the Preakness was postponed April 3 because of the coronavirus pandemic. The weather Saturday turned out to be ideal -- slightly breezy with temperatures around 80 degrees -- but there were no patrons in the Pimlico grandstand or infield, and no horses in the starting gate for the scheduled 6:45 p.m. race.
